SEDS is an international student nonprofit, with thousands of students across 12 different countries! Here in the United States, SEDS USA is the national organization, consisting of about 100+ individual chapters (we're just one of them!) across the country. Check out their website for more info.
Typically 1st Wednesday of every month from 6:30–8 pm. All meetings start with half an hour of networking/activities before we give the floor to our featured speaker for the night. Our speakers come from all over the space industry to talk about their work, give insightful career advice, and answer your questions!
SEDS is committed to spearheading human spaceflight education and exposure to university students. Through Student Astronaut Corps (SAC), we offer free, student-led courses relevant to spaceflight training and research. Even more, we host group trips, lab tours, and socials! If you are looking for a community to learn with, SAC is your place to stop. Simply stop by one of our weekly AAC meetings!
Our teams are centered around one thing: innovation. We offer opportunities for students of all skill levels to build experience, while striving to push the limits of what is possible.
TAMU SEDS' projects are centered on the belief of service and opportunity for all students, regardless of background or experience level. If you are looking to contribute to the scientific community and space industry, our opportunities are for you!
Beyond general meetings, we offer a variety of other opportunities for professional development. This includes company information in collaboration with AIAA, our annual Space Networking Fair, and more in the works!
If you want to build connections and just have some fun, stop by for one of our socials! We've had everything from sports socials to food socials, bad sci-fi movie nights, and Halloween parties. Open to member suggestions as well!
Every year, SEDS brings members to SpaceVision, the largest student-run space conference in the country. It's an incredible opportunity to meet fellow space lovers, network with big names in the space industry, and even present your work.
Other adventures that we've gone on include the International Space Station Development Conference, a trip to SpaceX Starbase, and a total solar eclipse trip to Waco!
As much as we love looking up to the stars, we also love giving back to our community. Every year, SEDS takes part in The Big Event, as well as a number of outreach events at local schools.
And we've been doing this for a while. In Spring 2018, SEDS hosted the Amateur Radio on the ISS (ARISS), which included a live-stream event with the ISS where K-12 students asked an astronaut questions!
